One poem today: 246 words.
1,345 words on Wednesday.
1,345 + 246 = 1,591.
Assorted almost-sent query letters would round it up to 2,000 words for the week.
Not very good, but considering the week I had, especially at work...
I'm not feeling bad about it.
One finished short story, and one finished poem, and a few finished query letters.
Really not bad for the week I had, and I've done much worse than this.
I'll do better. I must do better.
But I'll definitely take 2,000 words for this week, and those finished pieces.

Usually, a good week for me is upwards of 18,000 or so. That does not include anything other than word production on stories/novels.
Need to get back on track with that!

DeleteThere's absolutely no way I can do 18,000 words a week. Even 14,000 words a week would be a miracle for me, and that's at 2K words a day, seven days a week.
Just too tired from the day job to do that. And the time...It's 4pm now and I'm just doing my computer tasks before I write.
With dinner and things for my job to do, I'm lucky to get an hour a day, and two hours is a dream.
Baby steps for me. I'm shooting for the 6K words a week right now. If I can do 7K a week regularly, that would be awesome for me.
Sounds to me like you're going to be roundly and consistently kicking my butt at this. Maybe I should shoot for half of your production!
I think you will be able to do it. What makes it work for me is I take a lot of time and write a really detailed outline. That way when I sit down to write it is just filling it out. That is why I can do so many words in a week. Trust me, there are times when ten words is all I can manage.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confidence! I wish I had as much for me as you do for me! The week ending March 29th was just another 2,000-word week, and that's maybe pushing it a tiny bit. But the work I've done is good and I like it, and I really needed to vet the markets for my work. Nice problem to have, needing to send out many pieces, but I still thought I'd get more writing done.
DeleteI'm shocked to see how little time and energy I actually have. I always feel like I can conquer the world when I get home. Then I have trouble even conquering my job's workload, my weariness and my time constraints.
